NOTICE TO CHESWOLD RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES:
Date Posted: Tuesday, July 14th, 2026House Bill 472 (HB 472) was passed by the State Legislature, signed and approved into law by Governor Meyer on July, 6, 2026.
This Bill was generated and lawfully processed by the State Legislature and agreed to by the Town Council of the Town of Cheswold.
Effectively, HB 472 removed the section of Nobles Pond, which was previously annexed into the Town of Cheswold out of the corporate limits and boundaries of the Town.
This action has also resulted in a deficiency of four (4) Councilmembers; leaving only two (2) active Councilmembers. There is nothing in the Town Charter that directs action to be taken if this situation should occur.
This is a precedent setting situation, and a process resolution is currently being sought by the Special Legal Counsel of the Town.
Please be patient and attempt to understand that the Town is actively seeking to re-form a full working Council and it will happen as soon as legally possible.
Thank you.
