Public Hearings

The purpose of Public Hearings is to provide the opportunity to residents and property owners to provide their views, opinions and evidence on proposed Ordinances, annexations, or changes that are under consideration for approval by the Town Council.

These opinions and evidence become part of the record of the hearing and are used by the Council in their decision to either approve or deny the issue of the hearing.

Prior to the posting of the agenda, a Public Notice of the Public Hearing, specifying the reason for the Hearing and date deadlines are posted on the Town Hall Bulletin Board, in the local Post Office on Main Street and in the Fox Pointe development management office.   Anyone may also obtain a copy of the resolution for the Public Hearing and the associated agenda from Town Hall at 691 Main Street, Cheswold, Delaware 19936.  An agenda is subsequently posted in the same places.

Anyone having comments, but unable to attend the meeting, may submit their comments in writing prior to the Hearing being held and anyone planning to make comments at the Hearing is required to notify Town Hall prior to the meeting being held.   A date deadline for requesting to speak at the Hearing is the Friday prior to the Hearing date.

There are also rules associated with conduct at the Public Hearing.   Please see attached:
