NOTICE TO CHESWOLD RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES:

House Bill 472 (HB 472) was passed by the State Legislature, signed and approved into law by Governor Meyer on July, 6, 2026. This Bill was generated and lawfully processed by the State Legislature and agreed to by the Town Council of the Town of Cheswold. Effectively, HB 472 removed the section of Nobles Pond, which was previously annexed into the Town of Cheswold out of the corporate limits and boundaries of the Town. This action has also resulted in a deficiency of four (4) Councilmembers; leaving only two (2) active Councilmembers. There is nothing in the Town Charter that directs action to be taken if this situation should occur. This is a precedent setting situation, and a process resolution is currently being sought by the Special Legal Counsel of the Town. FORMER CHESWOLD RESIDENTS (Nobles Pond)

Effective July 1, 2026, House Bill 472 officially removed Nobles Pond from the Town of Cheswold municipal limits. https://legis.delaware.gov/json/BillDetail/GenerateHtmlDocumentEngrossment?engrossmentId=38226&docTypeId=6 If you have a mortgage with an escrow account, you are responsible for providing a copy of House Bill 472 to your mortgage company to ensure that Town of Cheswold property taxes are no longer collected through escrow. If you have any questions regarding your Kent County property tax bill, please direct your concerns to their office. Please note that the Town of Cheswold will not provide supporting documentation regarding this change, as it was enacted and finalized through State Legislation.

Looking to become an Election Board Member for the March 31, 2026, Municipal Elections and live within the Town of Cheswold Jurisdiction? The current Board of Election Member is unable to fulfill their duties on March 31, 2026. Hours will be 1:00pm until after the polls close at 7:00pm. Please submit your letter of intent to camyrn.jones@townofcheswold.org. No later than March 13th  at 4:00pm. The selection will be made by the Mayor and Council on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10 :00am during a special Council meeting.
