Alarm Ordinance Passed in Town of Cheswold to curb false alarm responses

On April 7, 2014 the Town of Cheswold Mayor and Council unanimously passed Ordinance 03-24-14-016 Alarms and Security Systems proposed by the Chief of Police. The purpose of this ordinance is to protect, preserve and
promote the health, safety, welfare, peace and quiet for the citizens of the Town of Cheswold through the reduction of false alarms in the Town of Cheswold. The intent of this Ordinance is to establish standards which will eliminate and reduce unnecessary alarms which require the response of the Town of Cheswold Police Department to preserve the life and property of the residents, homes and businesses within the   entire corporate limits of the Town of Cheswold, Kent County – State of Delaware.

Since the beginning of 2014 we have received more calls for false alarms then all of last year.

Residents and businesses that have alarm systems will be given sixty (60) days to register their alarm systems with the Town of Cheswold Police Department.
