Cheswold Police identify Laundromat Theft Suspect

After a lengthy investigation and numerous calls on the suspects identity, the Cheswold Police Department have identified Billy Joe Paitsel, a 45 yr old W/M from the Magnolia / Dover area as the suspect who entered Kwons Laundromat on July 17th at approx. 1500 hrs. and used a unknown tool to gain access to the change machine and remove approx. $1,400 in USC from the machine.     Officers were able to obtain surveillance footage of the suspect which was subsequently released to local news outlets. The Cheswold Police Departments received multiple calls identifying the suspect as Mr. Paitsel, even from as far away as Dawson County Georgia Sheriffs Office who supplied the department with photos of the suspect, including a tattoo on the suspects left hand which was not released.  Billy Joe Paitsel is current wanted by the Cheswold Police Department who holds a warrant for Theft Under $1500 and Conspiracy 3rd Degree. Cheswold Police Department /DEA Sponsoring National Take Back Day Sept. 27, 2014

NATIONAL TAKE BACK INITIATIVE IX September 27, 2014 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM On Saturday, September  27, 2014, from 10am to 2pm, DEA will coordinate a collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets.  A National Take-Back day will provide a unified opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.  This one-day effort will bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse.  The program also provides an opportunity for law enforcement, prevention, treatment and the business community to collaborate and establish a safe collection site for all Americans, regardless of where they reside. Dover man arrested after incident in Cheswold and fighting with Police

ON MAY 2ND, 2014 @ APPROX 2230 CHESWOLD POLICE AND DSP TROOPERS WERE DISPATCHED FOR A COMPLAINT AT THE SHORE STOP LOCATED AT 761 MAIN STREET FOR A REPORT OF A FIGHT OUT , DSP ON LOCATION.   UPON ARRIVAL OFFICERS WERE ADVISED BY THE VICTIM, THAT THREE SUSPECTS, WHO WERE DRIVING WHITE PLYMOUTH NEON, WITH A DELAWARE REGISTRATION NUMBER HAD STOLEN HIS SONS SKATEBOARD FROM THE SIDEWALK AREA ACROSS FROM HIS RESIDENCE ON NEW ROAD. WHEN HE CONFRONTED THE THREE SUSPECTS AT THE SHORE STOP IN CHESWOLD THEY STATED THAT THEY DID NOT STEAL ANYTHING AND REFUSED TO GIVE HIM THE SKATEBOARD.   THE VICTIM STATED THAT HE BLOCKED THE VEHICLE IN TO AWAIT POLICE AND THE SUSPECTS BEGAN SPITTING AND BANGING ON HIS WINDOWS. Tip leads to arrest of Felony Fugitive

On April 9, 2014 Chief Christopher Workman received a tip that was sent to DELJIS regarding a suspect wanted by the Cheswold Police Department since July 6th, 2009 for Rape first degree caused injury and Unlawful Imprisonment First Degree. The tip stated that OLGUENS VOLCY ( an alias of fugitive Olgven Voley) who has been wanted by the Cheswold Police Department was currently residing at an address in Irvington, NJ. Cheswold Police made contact with the US Marshalls office in New Jersey who were able to locate and arrest Mr. Voley, who is currently in custody and awaiting extradition to Delaware to be charged in this case. On July 4th, 2009 Mr Voley allegedly took a female companion to his residence following a church service. Cheswold, DE– On April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Cheswold Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its eighth opportunity in three years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.  Bring your pills for disposal to [site] at [address].  (The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.)  The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.   Last October, Americans turned in 324 tons (over 647,000 pounds) of prescription drugs at over 4,114 sites operated by the DEA and its thousands of state and local law enforcement partners.  When those results are combined with what was collected in its seven previous Take Back events, DEA and its partners have taken in over 3.4 million pounds—more than 1,700 tons—of pills. Cheswold man flees from officer before crashing vehicle on Brenford Rd

Town of Cheswold Police Department Official News Release: On the 11/8/13 @ approx. 1930 hrs Cpl. Louis Simms was operating stationary radar on Moorton Rd n/o Main St when he clocked a Tan Jeep Liberty speeding in a marked 25 mph zone travelling n/b at 46 mph.   The officer left his position and turned on his lights and sirens in an attempt to stop this vehicle. The vehicle would not stop and traveled at an extreme high rate of speed on Moorton Rd headed towards Brenford Rd. While following the vehicle the officer observed the vehicle run off the roadway several times and failed to maintain his lane. After returning his vehicle to the roadway the vehicle continued to flee the officer eventually disregarded the stop sign at the intersection of Moorton Rd and Brenford Rd.   The vehicle then  went off of the roadway through a wooden fence located at a home on Brenford Rd. and striking a tree […]

21 yr old Cheswold Man Charged with Rape of Minor

On 9/20/13 Cheswold Police Department following a three day investigation arrested Tyrone A. Turcotte, a 21 yr old b/m from Cheswold, DE on 3 counts of Rape 4th Degree Sexual Intercourse Victim is Less than 16 Years Old and 3 Counts of Sexual Solicitation of a Child Under 18 to Engage in Prohibited Sexual Act, following allegations that the suspect on three (3) seperate occassions between August 3rd and August 10th  had sexual intercourse with a 14 yr old female acquaintance at his residence in the Town of Cheswold.   Mr. Turcotte was taken into custody early Friday Morning without incident at his residence in Cheswold and transported to the Cheswold Police Dept. for a interview and notification of charges. Cheswold Police add Full-Time Officer

TOWN OF CHESWOLD POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL NEWS RELEASE On 9/17/13 at the Town Council Workshop in the Town of Cheswold, Susan Kline of Dover, DE, was sworn in as a full-time police officer for the Town of Cheswold.  Officer Kline had been previously employed by the Town of Cheswold and has knowledge of the area and the Town’s residents. The fact that Patrol Officer Kline was still within her Delaware COPT Certification has allowed us to place an experienced and knowledgeable officer on the street in a relatively short amount of time. After carefully reviewing many options the Mayor, Town Council and I were looking at ways to better serve the town residents and provide the best police coverage possible. History of Cheswold Police Department

Currently we are attempting to research information on the formation of the Cheswold Police Department and those officers who were the first to wear the uniform of the Cheswold Police Department. We have been told that the police department was first formed in 1956 and had one officer. We would also like to know all of the officer who have been members of the department over the years.
