Firefly Traffic causing major delays

All Residents: Friday 6/21/13 @ 1235 : Due to the Firefly event in Dover this weekend traffic is bumper to bumper along west bound Rt 42 (Main Street) to Rt 13 (N Dupont Hwy). Rt 13 is also backed up south bound towards Dover from Cheswold to Dover. You will be experiencing delays that we can no longer avoid.

Speeding Charge nets fugitive from St. Louis

On 6/19/13 at approx. 1645 hrs, Cpl. Louis Simms conducted a traffic stop of a red 2007 Dodge Caravan operated by Ross Madison a 38 yr old, B/M, of St. Louis, MO. The vehicle was stopped for speeding 38mph in a posted 25mph zone on Rt42 w/o Leyland Lane in the Town of Cheswold. Mr. Madison provided the officer with his Missouri state ID card and his insurance card. He advised the officer that his drivers license is currently suspended in Missouri. An NCIC check of the subject revealed that he is wanted by St Louis County PD for Burglary 2nd and other traffic related capiases in Missouri. The NCIC confirmation was confirmed and the officer contacted St Louis Fugitive task force who advised they are willing to extradite Mr. Madison on his Burglary charge. Speeding Stop leads to Drug Arrest

On 6/5/13Cpl. Louis Simms of the Cheswold Police Department was conducting speed enforcement in the area of Moorton Rd in the Town of Cheswold when his radar unit showd a 2004 Mercedes 4S , black in color travelling at 44 MPH in a 25 MPH speed zone. Cpl. Simms stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver who provided the officer with a registration card for the vehicle and no drivers license. The driver then provided the officer with a name, which after a check proved to be false. After questioning the driver regarding his name the officer conducted a further investigation at the scene of the driver and his female passenger. During the investigation the officer found that the female occupant was carrying illegal drugs and cash in her top that she states was given to her by the driver of the vehicle when the officer was stopping […]

Trio Arrested for Laundromat Burglary

As of 5/17/13, Joseph Simms, an 23yr old w/m, Richard Morgan, a 23 yr old w/m, and Adrian Jenkins, an 18yr old, b/m all from Harrington, DE were arrested and charged with the burglary of Kwon’s Laundromat located at 762 Main Street in the Town of Cheswold in the early morning hours of May2, 2013. Surveillance photos posted by the Dover Post and Delaware State News led to a flood of information coming into Cheswold PD, DSP Troop 3, Millsboro PD and DSP – Div of Gaming Enforcement. Cheswold officer’s arrived on scene at the Harrington Casino, on 5/16/13 and with the coordination of Sgt. Leslie Grow of the DSP – Div of Gaining Enforcement, the assistance of Dave Zebley, Executive Director of Surveillance and Harrington Casino Security, made a positive id of Joseph Simms who is employed by the Harrington Casino. Burglary at Laundromat in Cheswold

The Cheswold Police Department is requesting assistance in identifying the suspects pictured below. On 5/2/13 at 0030 hrs. the three (3) suspects entered Kwons Laundromat on Main Street in Cheswold, DE and removed the receptacles from ten (10) machines after failing to remove the change machine from the wall.  Any persons with information on the identity of the suspects can contact Chief Chris Workman at the Cheswold Police Department (302) 734-2202 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.

Possible Burglary Attempt in Parkers Run

On 4/29/13 Officers were dispatched for a report of a possible burglary attempt on Parkers Drive int he Parkers Run Development located off of Main Street in in the Town of Cheswold. The resident noticed that the lock on the rear sliding door was damaged and called police. The resident stated that at approx 1pm in the afternoon she was on the second floor of her residence and heard her dog barking but never went downstairs to check on her home. She noticed later in the evening that the lock was broken on the rear sliding doors of home. No entry was gained int o the residence and the homeowner is taking steps to secure her residence and officers will be stepping up patrols in the area and stopping suspicious persons in the area.
