Cheswold Police charge suspect in Shore Stop Robbery, second suspect identified

Town of Cheswold Police Department Official News Release On 12/04/13 Cheswold Police charged Lytia Bailey, 27 yr old B/F of Chestertown, MD in connection with armed robbery that occurred at the Valero Shore Stop located on Main Street in Cheswold, DE on Nov. 26th @ 3:43 am.   On that date a black male, now identified as Brian Maurice Daniels, 41 yr old B/M from Chestertown, MD entered the Valero Shore Stop and pointed a gun at the clerk demanding money before leaving with cash and cartons of Newport Cigarettes.   Police in conjunction with Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit and Dover PD were able to identify suspects in the incidents.   On 12/4/13 Cheswold PD was notified that a female suspect was in custody at Troop 3 in relation to similar incidents in Kent County. Cheswold Police Family First Fund Toy and Food Drive

The Town of Cheswold Police Department is starting the Cheswold Police Department Family First Fund to assist low and middle income families during the holiday season. Since we are just establishing this charitable organization we are currently asking for donations of unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items (no monetary donations please). These items will be used to help those families in the Town of Cheswold who need a little helping hand this holiday season. You can help by dropping off toys and non-perishable food items to the Town of Cheswold Police Department or Town Hall located at 691 Main St (next to the Shore Stop) Mon through Friday between the hours of 9am and 4 pm between now and December 20th. Cheswold man flees from officer before crashing vehicle on Brenford Rd

Town of Cheswold Police Department Official News Release: On the 11/8/13 @ approx. 1930 hrs Cpl. Louis Simms was operating stationary radar on Moorton Rd n/o Main St when he clocked a Tan Jeep Liberty speeding in a marked 25 mph zone travelling n/b at 46 mph.   The officer left his position and turned on his lights and sirens in an attempt to stop this vehicle. The vehicle would not stop and traveled at an extreme high rate of speed on Moorton Rd headed towards Brenford Rd. While following the vehicle the officer observed the vehicle run off the roadway several times and failed to maintain his lane. After returning his vehicle to the roadway the vehicle continued to flee the officer eventually disregarded the stop sign at the intersection of Moorton Rd and Brenford Rd.   The vehicle then  went off of the roadway through a wooden fence located at a home on Brenford Rd. and striking a tree […]

Drugs found in Speeding Vehicle – Oct. 30, 2013

On 10/30/13 Cpl. Louis Simms was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Main Street and Moorton Rd in the Town Of Cheswold when his radar clocked a vehicle travelling 39 MPH in a 25 MPH Speed Zone. Cpl. Simms stopped the 2001 Chevy Malibu being operated by Kenyal Stevenson., 19 yr old, B/M of Dover, DE. While speaking with Mr. Stevenson the officer detected a strong odor of what appeared to be marijuana emitting from the vehicle. After questioning Mr. Stevenson regarding the odor, the operator admitted that he was in possession of marijuana and that it was located under the passenger seat of his vehicle.   The officer retrieved the alleged marijuana from its location and performed a further search of the vehicle locating a metal grinder and a digital scale which were confiscated by the officer.   Mr. Stevenson was transported to the Cheswold Police Dept. where […]

Cheswold Police 1st National Take Back Day a Success

On Saturday, October 26 from 10am till 2pm the Cheswold Police Department in conjunction with the DEA held its 1st National Take Back Day in the Town of Cheswold. This first initiative was a big success with a steady stream of traffic all day leading to a total of 107.7 lbs of prescription and non prescription drugs being turned in at the Police Deparment druing that time. We would like to thank all of those people who took advantage of the day and look forward to hosting this program again in the future.

CHESWOLD POLICE TAKING BACK UNWANTED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS OCTOBER 26 AT CHESWOLD POLICE DEPARTMENT   Cheswold, DE– On October 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Cheswold Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its seventh opportunity in three years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.  Bring your medications for disposal to Cheswold Police Department at 691 Main Street (next to the Shore Stop).  The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.   Last April, Americans turned in 371 tons (over 742,000 pounds) of prescription drugs at over 5,800 sites operated by the DEA and its thousands of state and local law enforcement partners.  In its six previous Take Back events, DEA and its partners took in over 2.8 million pounds—more than 1,400 tons—of pills. 21 yr old Cheswold Man Charged with Rape of Minor

On 9/20/13 Cheswold Police Department following a three day investigation arrested Tyrone A. Turcotte, a 21 yr old b/m from Cheswold, DE on 3 counts of Rape 4th Degree Sexual Intercourse Victim is Less than 16 Years Old and 3 Counts of Sexual Solicitation of a Child Under 18 to Engage in Prohibited Sexual Act, following allegations that the suspect on three (3) seperate occassions between August 3rd and August 10th  had sexual intercourse with a 14 yr old female acquaintance at his residence in the Town of Cheswold.   Mr. Turcotte was taken into custody early Friday Morning without incident at his residence in Cheswold and transported to the Cheswold Police Dept. for a interview and notification of charges. Cheswold Police add Full-Time Officer

TOWN OF CHESWOLD POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL NEWS RELEASE On 9/17/13 at the Town Council Workshop in the Town of Cheswold, Susan Kline of Dover, DE, was sworn in as a full-time police officer for the Town of Cheswold.  Officer Kline had been previously employed by the Town of Cheswold and has knowledge of the area and the Town’s residents. The fact that Patrol Officer Kline was still within her Delaware COPT Certification has allowed us to place an experienced and knowledgeable officer on the street in a relatively short amount of time. After carefully reviewing many options the Mayor, Town Council and I were looking at ways to better serve the town residents and provide the best police coverage possible.
