CPD has New Speed Trailer provided by Kent County Levy Court and Delaware CJC Grant Funds

On Aug 13 the Cheswold Police Department received their Smart 650 Speed Trailer and Traffic Data Recorder from Kustom Signals. The trailer was purchased by Chief Workman through grant funds received from the Delaware Criminal Justice Council and Kent County Levy Court. Chief Workman expressed his gratitude to Kent County Levy Court and CJC for the grants which provided the funds for this project. Without these funds the Town could not have purchased this equipment. The Chief… felt that the traffic problems within the Town placed much of the towns children at risk as a lot of residences border two highly travelled roadways in Main St (Rt 42) and Commerce St in the Town of Cheswold. Cheswold PD taking part in DEA Tenth National Drug Take Back Initiative

Saturday September 12, 2015 the Cheswold Police will be participating in the DEA’s Tenth Annual Drug Take Back Initiative.  The Cheswold Police will be on hand at the Cheswold Police Department located at 691 Main Street in Cheswold from 10am until 2pm collecting all unused and expired prescription drugs. Bring your unused prescription drugs on that day for disposal….. please do not bring your drugs for disposal prior to that date and time. We cannot accept the prior to or after the date and time of collection.

Delaware Office of Highway Safety provides Cheswold PD with new radar unit.

On 6/9/15 The Cheswold Police Department was awarded a new Stalker Dual Radar Unit by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety for their participation in the April Distracted Driver Mobilization. The Cheswold Police Department was selected by random draw of all of the participating departments to receive the equipment. The Cheswold Police Department would like to thank Delaware Office of Highway Safety Director Jana Simpler and Law Enforcement Liaison Roger Miner along with the entire staff for their tireless work with law enforcement and helping to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors of the State of Delaware as the travel our roadways. Former Cheswold Chief of Police Jack W Webb passes away at age 68

The Cheswold Police Department send their deepest sympathy’s to the family and friends of former Chief of Police Jack W. Webb (ret) who passed away suddenly last Thursday at the age of 68. Chief Webb served 2 years as the Police Chief of Cheswold before being employed by the Delaware Capital Police for over twelve years,retiring as a M/Cpl in September 2014. He was a veteran police officer with over 47 years combined experience serving almost continuously from 1965 to 2014. He retired from Baltimore City (24 years), served 5 years with Ann Arundel County (MD) Sheriff, 4 years Madison County (TN) Sheriff, and served for a 2 years as the Chief of Police in Cheswold DE before being employed by Delaware Capital Police. Cheswold Mother and Daughter home safe and sound!

The Cheswold Police Department was advised this morning that Ms. Susan Temple and her daughter Amissa Wells returned to her home last evening at approx.. 2130 hrs safe and sound. Cheswold Police Seeking assistance in locating Mother and Daughter

The Cheswold Police Department received a report from a citizen that his daughter left their residence on Dayflower Ct in the Fox Pointe Development on Thursday morning to take a vehicle to a local repair shop and failed to return home. Susan Temple, 33 yr old W/F was reported to be last seen at her brothers residence the Hunters Run Development located in Bear, DE on Saturday, May 16th around 12pm, where she picked up her 13 yr old daughter, Amissa Wells. The father has made numerous attempts to contact Ms. Temple on her cell phone with negative results. Ms. Temple has custody of her child and is currently wanted on two capias’s’, at this time we believe that there is no foul play involved. If you know Ms. Temple or have seen her or her daughter Amissa please call 911 or contact the Cheswold Police Department.

Rash of Car thefts reported in Cheswold 5-13-15

The Cheswold Police Department has handled numerous thefts from vehicles this morning in the area of Fox Pointe and School Ln, the vehicles were entered between 12am and 7am….. the thieves stole items such as change, pocket books and other items that may have value. In mostly all of these incidents the vehicles were left unlocked. If you have had something taken from your vehicle or the vehicle was just ransacked call 911 so that officers can make a report. You may think it is not significant but allows us to track where things begin and end. Most of all ….PLEASE LOCK YOUR CARS!!

Cheswold Police Chief chosen to present program at 2015 IACP Conference

On Monday, May 11th Chief Chris Workman of the Cheswold Police Department received an email notifying him that his proposed presentation was selected to be presented at the 2015 International Association of Chief’s of Police Conference this October in Chicago, IL. Cheswold PD Investigating Rash of Thefts and Burglaries

Over the past week there has been a rash of bicycle thefts and some burglaries in Cheswold and surrounding areas. The Cheswold Police and Delaware State Police have answered calls for thefts and burglaries in Cheswold, Lake Shore Village and Pinewood Acres. One juvenile arrest was made over the weekend and we are following leads on a few other suspects. Make sure that you lock up your bicycles and your vehicles. Most of these incidents are crimes of opportunity, the items being taken are unsecured and out in the open.   To help you from being a victim of burglary…… Here are some things to remember: 1. Suspect Wanted for Theft from Cheswold News and Tobacco

Cheswold Police are currently looking for Matthew B. Langshaw who has a warrant outstanding for Theft in the Town of Cheswold. On April 6, 2015 the suspect entered the Cheswold News & Tobacco Store on Holly Oak Lane and fled with an E-Cigarette and Tank valued at $31.99 without paying for the item. The suspect was viewed on camera by PFC Simms who was called to investigate the incident. The officer was able to identify the suspect and the vehicle he was seen fleeing the scene in through previous encounters and put together a photo line-up where the suspect was identified.
